The Book

I am so glad to receive the email this morning, informing me that the book I wrote with Celestino Castro Macachor is now doing good. Many people are buying it, in fact, it commands 60% share of all Filipino Martials Arts books sold in Amazon. It is like an insignificant snowball rolling downhill, soon becoming an avalance.

What makes me happier, is the fact that many FMA (arnis, eskrima) enthusiasts have read the book now and know the real story about the Filipino Martial Arts. The days of the myth makers is now almost over.

I purchased your book about a year ago, stumbling across it on Amazon. I have enjoyed reading it as I have your blog. And I appreciate your efforts to de-myth (is that a word?) the FMA legends.

I am Filipino American, with roots in Cebu. My grandparents and many relatives are still in Opao, my mother travels to PI 3-4 times a year.

Eskrima runs in my family. My uncle is Teofilo Roma, my cousin Wilson Ceniza. I have been curious about a legendary eskrimador - Gregorio Ceniza, whom has been referenced many times but very little written about him. Do you have any information about this man?

By the way, I also practice Balintawak, a direct student of GM Bobby Taboada.

Keep up the great work, you have many supporters out there!

I just learned that Anciong acon used to visit his place in Mandaue and practiced the knifing with him.
He was the first to tech this brand of knifing to the public.
