In Memoriam - Venancio Abella Bacon

Many people are talking about him, exchange lengthy discussion about him in mny FMA fora in the Net, associate their names to him, to promote themselves. But they never remember where they burried him. A great paradox, isn't it?

The name is Venancio "Anciong" Abella Bacon - the so-called Mozart of eskrima.

It seems that only one, bothers to remember this great eskrima teacher. Bobby Tabimina, one of Anciong's direct students, is looking for the remains of this great Cebuano eskrimador so that he can build a sort of shrine for this great teacher. I am commissioned to look for the remains which is now stocked together with other remains in the common grave at the Calamba Public Cemetery in Cebu City. Fortunately the remains is contained in a sack labled with his name. The retrieval may not be impossible, unfortunately. But to find it among the hundreds of sacks in that big mass grave is hard.

Anciong can finally rest in a decent grave he truly deserved. It is just unfortunate that for decades (he died in 1980), nobody remembered him. Other great masters of other martial arts, have their respective shrines where followers can visit and pay homage.
